1. What happens during the first session?
The first session is an opportunity to get to know each other and talk about what brings you to counseling. We’ll discuss what you’re experiencing, what kind of support you’re looking for, and what you hope to get from counseling. There’s no pressure to share anything you’re not ready to discuss. We’ll work together to create a safe, supportive approach that fits your needs.
2. Do I need to know exactly what I need help with?
Not at all. Sometimes you simply know that something doesn't feel right, or that you're struggling to carry everything on your own. That's enough of a reason to reach out.
3. Do you offer a free consultation?
Yes. I offer a free 20-minute discovery call so we can briefly connect, talk about what you're looking for, and see whether we're a good fit. There's no pressure or obligation to book a session.
4. Are counseling sessions offered online?
Yes. All counseling sessions are offered online, providing a private and comfortable space from wherever you are. Online counseling is available for clients seeking support with grief, caregiving, chronic illness, life transitions, and other challenges
5. What areas do you specialize in?
I support adults and older adults experiencing grief and loss, anticipatory grief, caregiver burnout, dementia-related challenges, chronic illness and chronic pain, anxiety, depression, life transitions, and end-of-life concerns. I also provide support for nurses and other care staff.
6. Do you work with families and caregivers?
Yes. I support individuals and families navigating dementia, caregiving, grief, serious illness, and end-of-life experiences. Caregivers also deserve a space where they can be supported.
7. Do you provide death doula support?
Yes. As a death doula, I offer compassionate presence and support around end-of-life, including sitting vigil, exploring fears and wishes, creating meaningful moments, and supporting individuals and families before and after a death.
8. Do you provide support around MAID?
Yes. I offer non-judgmental emotional support before, during, and after a MAID provision for individuals, family members, caregivers, and others affected by the experience. My role is not to influence your decision, but to support you as you process what this experience means for you.
9. Will my extended health benefits cover counseling?
Some extended health plans cover Registered Therapeutic Counsellors (RTCs). Coverage varies between plans, so I recommend checking with your provider before booking. Direct billing is available to Pacific Blue Cross for eligible plans.
10. What if I'm not sure whether counseling is right for me?
That's okay. You don't have to know before reaching out. You can book a free 20-minute discovery call and we can simply have a conversation. Sometimes the first step is just seeing whether it feels right to talk.
